Alice Temperley

With her signature blend of bohemian glamour and effortless elegance, last year Alice Temperley chose Sloane Street as the home of her only London flagship. The boutique—two floors of intricate prints, rich textures, and effortless tailoring—is a fitting reflection of the designer’s Somerset roots and rock-n-roll spirit.

Whether it’s indulgent martinis, off-duty escapes in a vintage Chevvy van, or the wellbeing experts she swears by, Temperley’s world is a carefully curated blend of timeless glamour, quiet luxury, and a rebellious streak.

Here, the designer shares her latest obsessions, from her favourite Chelsea haunts and the series she’s currently hooked on to the one red lipstick she never leaves home without…

I’m Reading… I am currently reading – Gut Feelings: The Intelligence of the Unconscious by Gerd Gigerenzer. I am enjoying the assurance and discovery of learning how to listen to my intuition and to follow my gut instinct, something I haven’t always done in the past!

The last thing I bought and cherished… My 1950s-style Chevvy Van – It’s perfect for sleepovers, summer parties, and summer adventures to the coast; I jump in after a day at the office or disappear early in the mornings to be there when no one else is around to enjoy the sea and the silence.

My fridge is never without… A bottle or two of ‘Somerset Pomona’ made, bottled and sold with apples from my parents’ cider farm, The Somerset Cider Brandy Company. It pairs really well with a cheese board after a meal or on its own earlier in the evening, straight or over Ice!

We keep Somerset Pomona in the bar downstairs at our Sloane Street flagship and will occasionally offer a glass of it to our bespoke or bridal clients

My non-negotiable indulgence is… Dirty Martini – it has the elegant, timeless appeal of a classic martini, but with a rebellious twist – I love them!

I’m watching… Yellowstone – The story of a family who owns the largest ranch in Montana. They fight to protect their ranch from outside forces, including developers, politicians, and a Native American reservation. I especially love the actress Kelly Riley who plays Beth.

When no one is around, I like to… spend hours in my bath indulging in Make’s Bath Soothe bath foam in Vanilla, Black Pepper & Ylang Ylang while listening to a great podcast or my favourite music.

The beauty staples I can’t live without… Charlotte Tilbury Tell Laura Lipstick, the perfect shade of red for me, Make Skincare’s Rose Face Glow facial oil, and a facial from SKIN London is simply the best!

Make Face Glow – Moringa, Rosehip and Vitamin E Face Oil with Rose, Geranium and Sandalwood facial oil, £29.50

My mental health would suffer without… Spending time with my family and closest friends. I also love riding my shire horse and walking my devoted dog through the local forest, which is peaceful and beautiful, it slows everything down and puts me directly in touch with nature.

I’m thinking about... …At Sloane. It’s such a beautiful hotel with a speakeasy ‘secret bar’ that’s open ’til late, a great restaurant and intimate, alluring bedrooms – it’s my absolute new favourite, and a great place to meet and spend time with friends.

My go-to wellbeing experts are… Boniface Verney-Carron, an osteopath for body re-alignment – for reducing tension and stress, and then feeling energised and balanced afterwards.

Russell from Pearls and Poison for my mind and life coaching – he’s been by my side, supporting and advising me along the way. I find him inspirational, endlessly curious and passionate.

My favourite local restaurant is… Colbert on Sloane Square, a French cafe in a trio of rooms with art nouveau, art deco and Victorian features. I love their omelettes with Avocado and a smoothie for breakfast – I can also take my dog with me, which makes us both happy.

I’m dreaming about… A remote holiday in Polynesia to discover coral-fringed crystal clear lagoons, secluded white- and black-sand beaches, mountains with imposing peaks and towering waterfalls. Time to escape, recharge my batteries and be inspired by nature.

Two beauty staples I always have with me… Charlotte Tilbury Tell Laura Lipstick my absolute go-to; I always carry it with me wherever I go. And Stories No. 2 perfume, which is sensational.

Three places in Chelsea that mean a lot to me…Our new Temperley London Flagship Store on Sloane Street: two amazing floors featuring our newest collections and bridal with our signature ethos and bohemian style seamlessly blending our Somerset heritage with a London flair. It’s great to be back!

The London Oratory on Brompton Road is a magical and beautiful sanctuary that moves and inspires me every time I visit.

Last but not least, the Royal Academy of the Arts, which is not strictly in Chelsea but not far away, is an incredible institution.

Visit the Temperley London flagship at 134 Sloane Street, SW1X 9AT.
