Holy Carrot opens within Urban Retreat

Located within wellness and beauty destination Urban Retreat, Holy Carrot is an innovative plant-based restaurant offering a new way of experiencing vegan food. Think light, nutritious, beautifully presented and, crucially, delicious dishes that will delight even committed omnivores.

The menu focuses on using ethically sourced, organic seasonal British produce. Prepared in a mindful manner, dishes are free from preservatives, refined sugar and additives.

Open daily from 12pm to 10pm, the dining options promise to nourish from the inside out, with standout items including the maki set, a selection of maki rolls made with cauliflower rice and organic quinoa with ponzu with a spiced mayo; sexy tofu – an organic glazed tofu with an aubergine, red pepper and peanut sauce; and a raw red pepper burrito.

There’s also a dedicated dessert menu, featuring tempting dishes like a Sicilian lemon tart or chocolate cheesecake with purple carrot ice cream. Tempted yet?

If not, then the cocktail list, which combines the decadence of VII Hills gin and Ketel One vodka with virtuous ingredients like grapefruit juice or homemade basil and pink peppercorn syrup, should do the trick.

The restaurant’s quirky name is derived from founder Irina Linovich’s desire to bring an element of fun to dining on vegan fare. “‘Carrot’ symbolises the fun and intriguing element of the brand, and ‘Holy’ represents the healthy nature of our dishes,” she explains.

The interior is as glamorous as one would expect from a restaurant within one of London’s most prestigious spas: eye-catching coving surrounds the high, white walls, with a marble fireplace and a bank of windows offering bright natural light. A selection of blue and white plates provides a charmingly domestic touch, while a dried flower installation suspended from the ceiling brings drama to the elegant space.
