The Ice Cream Project Returns for 2025

It’s back — and it’s as bonkers as ever. Deliciously absurd and unapologetically British… Bisto Gravy, pickled onions and olive oil are just the start

Anya Hindmarch's Ice Cream Project 2025

Anya Hindmarch’s cult Ice Cream Project is back for summer 2025 — and yes, it’s still brilliantly bonkers. For the uninitiated, this is not your average gelato experience. It’s a conceptual, cream-based ode to British pantry staples, reimagined with humour, irreverence and, somehow, actual deliciousness.

Running from 7 June to 17 August, this year’s line-up features 15 ice creams and sorbets inspired by cupboard classics, comforting favourites and a few eyebrow-raising condiments. New flavours include Bisto Gravy, a seriously tasty umami bomb for those who like their sweet with a savoury edge, and Flying Goose Sriracha, a creamy vanilla base spiked with a proper chilli kick.

Twiglets also make their debut, adding crunch and maltiness in one mouthful, while Garner’s Pickled Onions offers a surprisingly addictive vinegar-meets-vanilla situation. For a subtler spoon, try Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil — all grown-up creaminess with a silken finish — or IRN-BRU (sorbet), a technicolour zing for the sweet-toothed nostalgist.

Also joining the line-up: Ovaltine, Rowse Honey, Copella Cloudy Apple Juice (sorbet) and more, all handmade in small batches in Devon using top-tier ingredients.

Returning by popular demand: the smooth, sunshine-yellow Bird’s Custard, gently oaty Quaker Oats, and the cult-favourite Maldon Sea Salt (sorbet) — an intensely chocolatey hit balanced with flakes of sea salt and none of the dairy.

Tubs (500ml) are priced at £16 and scoops start from £4.50 — though be warned, queues form quickly at The Village Hall on Pont Street, where the pop-up is housed in gleaming freezers with gallery-like restraint.

Want to skip the queue? Book the Ice Cream Project Blind Tasting Tea (£45pp, 48 hours’ notice required) at the Anya Café next door. Expect a flight of all 15 flavours served with wafers, sprinkles and a tasting card — part dessert, part parlour game.

Weird? Absolutely. Wonderful? Without a doubt. Equal parts nostalgia trip, culinary dare and Instagram dream, this is the most deliciously eccentric scoop in Chelsea this summer.

Anya’s Ice Cream Project, The Village Hall, 11 Pont St, SW1X 9EH.
Monday – Saturday: 10am – 6pm; Sunday: 12pm – 5pm.
