From heritage tomatoes to Mexican hats, jeweller Cassandra Goad’s life is a study in colour and creativity. The designer behind Sloane Street’s much-loved boutique shares her inspirations and indulgences, from calligraphy rituals and countryside walks to the chandelier she’s dreaming of. This is a glimpse inside the world of one of Chelsea’s most vibrant tastemakers.
I’m reading… I often turn to John Sandoe Books for recommendations – they never fail to uncover unique and fascinating reads. While researching my latest collection, Greco: A Journey to Greece, I discovered Rachel Cusk’s Marble and Metamorphosis, a lyrical meditation on the physical and cultural life of marble. It is a beautifully written book that invites you to see the marble creations of the Ancient Greeks through fresh and illuminating eyes.
The last thing I bought and cherished… For my birthday, I received an orange step ladder for my studio from Niwaki that has been on my wish list for years. I have always been a little obsessed with all things orange!
I’m watching… I must confess, I have never been much of a TV-watcher. Instead, this summer, I was captivated by the V&A’s fascinating online course on the history of jewellery, led by Beatriz Chadour-Sampson.
I never miss… Picking flowers from my garden. I love to fill my Sloane Street boutique with the seasonal blooms and plants I grow and pick in the countryside.

I’m known for… My sense of colour! My friends can always spot me from a distance by my colourful hats that are handmade in Mexico by a women’s cooperative.
My non-negotiable indulgence is… Writing with a calligraphic pen and ink – there is something deeply satisfying about the rhythm of handwriting. It brings me joy to add beauty even to the simplest of tasks.
When no one is around, I like to… Take a bath. Nothing relaxes me quite like a long soak in the bath, followed by Diptyque’s Satin Oil – a small ritual I treasure.
The beauty staple I always have in stock… I never leave the house without Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream. I also adore Diptyque’s hand wash – it makes every day feel that much more luxurious.
My mental health would suffer without… A good long walk in the countryside. Having grown up in the British countryside, I have always turned to long walks in nature to keep me grounded.
My go-to wellbeing expert is… No one gives better advice on how to live well than my 95-year-old mother-in-law. She always reminds me what is truly important in life and never fails to remind me that the secret to eternal youth is curiosity.

I’m thinking about… I recently visited the Greek island of Chios, which proved an incredible source of inspiration for my new Greek collection. I often find myself thinking back to its enchanting medieval villages, Genoese fortresses, and grand Byzantine monasteries.
My favourite local restaurant is… …At Sloane is a place I return to time and again. Their food is divine – especially the pommes allumettes, which I can never resist, whatever the occasion. I feel completely at home there, and time spent in their exquisitely decorated spaces always leaves me feeling creatively rejuvenated.
I’m dreaming about… The Celestial Pebble chandelier from Ochre, which I think would be the perfect finishing touch to my traditional Norman home.
The place in Chelsea that means a lot to me… I love spending evenings at the Chelsea Arts Club. As a deeply creative person, I have always been drawn to Chelsea’s artistic spirit, which has made it the perfect home for my business. I am always profoundly grateful for the creativity and patronage that continue to inspire me here.
