From Sydney to Sloane Street, photographer Candice Lake’s eye for beauty is unmistakable. Known for capturing moments of modern elegance through a cinematic lens, she’s the creative force behind the campaign celebrating Sloane Street’s striking new look. Here, the Australian-born tastemaker shares the rituals, inspirations and small pleasures shaping her world right now.

I’m reading…
I tend to gravitate toward non-fiction, but every so often I indulge in a great novel. I recently finished The Bee Sting by Paul Murray, and it was one of the most memorable books I’ve read in years. It’s brilliantly written, layered, and funny in unexpected ways—I recommend it to everyone.

I’m watching…
I recently rewatched Motherland. It’s sharp, witty, and endlessly relatable. I also think every parent should watch Adolescence—it’s confronting, but incredibly necessary viewing.

The last thing I bought and cherished…
A Brunello Cucinelli suit for my husband. Their craftsmanship is extraordinary—the kind of piece that feels timeless and will truly last a lifetime.

My fridge is never without…
Vegemite (you can take the girl out of Australia, but not the Australia out of the girl!). There’s also always a bottle of Champagne ready for when friends drop by, and a steady supply of Greek yoghurt, which my family goes through at lightning speed.

I never miss…
Podcasts from Diary of a CEO, my weekly sauna sessions in the winter, Friday movie nights with my kids, my son’s cricket matches, weekend getaways with friends, and evenings at the ballet at the Royal Opera House. The ballet is my greatest indulgence—I often sneak in alone, and it never fails to inspire me.

When no one is around, I like to…
Watch unapologetically bad TV while indulging in Tony’s Chocolonely.

My non-negotiable indulgence is…
Colour with James at Hershesons Belgravia, and a monthly massage at The Connaught.

I’m known for…
My tendency to order the same dish wherever I go. Friends are often surprised to discover I can juggle, and I unapologetically love marathon baths that last for hours.

My mental health would suffer without…
Long walks across Hampstead Heath. It’s where I clear my head and reconnect with myself.

The beauty staples I always have in stock are…
U Beauty face wash, Augustinus Bader Rich Cream, Orveda (everything they make), K18 and Oribe hair products, and of course, my Dyson Airwrap. Beauty is absolutely my weakness!

My go-to wellbeing expert is…
Dr Gowri Motha (The Gentle Birth Method), who was invaluable during my pregnancies; James at Hershesons for the best colour in London; Fatma at Skin Design for facials that are second to none; and acupuncture, which I swear by.

I’m thinking about…
Interiors for our new home, AI humanoid bots, vitamins and wellness, Cartier leather goods (my ultimate weakness), 11+ exams, and—always—Sydney’s beaches.

My favourite local restaurant is…
Cantinetta Antinori – what a local gem – best pasta in all of London.

I’m dreaming about…
Taking my kids to India, and embracing new beginnings in the home we’ve just built.

The place in Chelsea that means a lot to me is…
When I moved to London, nearly 20 years ago, with little more than a suitcase,  I opened my first bank account at Barclays in Sloane Square. Every time I walk past it, I think about that young version of me and how far I’ve come.
