Get ready to see Sloane Street transformed as Chelsea in Bloom returns to Sloane Street from May 23-28, transforming the streets of Chelsea with extraordinary fresh flower displays celebrating this year’s theme, ‘British Icons’, for London’s largest free flower festival.
With Her Majesty The Queen – the greatest British icon of our time – celebrating her Platinum Jubilee the following week, this year’s theme draws inspiration from the characters, symbols and motifs across the United Kingdom that make us Britain.
The neighbourhood’s boutiques, hotels and restaurants will be adorned with extraordinary fresh flower displays inspired by icons including British bulldogs, David Bowie, Big Ben, Paddington Bear, The Beatles, Mary Poppins, tea, the Union flag and that trio of red classics: double-decker buses, post boxes and telephone boxes.
Produced by Cadogan in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), this year’s Chelsea in Bloom, London’s largest free-to-attend festival of flowers, is set to be the biggest yet, with over 90 shops, restaurants and hotels taking part by adorning their storefronts with wildly imaginative, world-class floral art in the hope of winning this year’s top prize, judged by an expert panel, with the winners being announced on Wednesday 25 May.
The People’s Champion Award will be chosen by open voting from the end of Monday 23rd on the dedicated Chelsea in Bloom website. Voting will close at midnight on Thursday 26 and the winner announced on Friday 27 May.
