Cos play: the swimwear edit

From bikinis to boardshorts and cover ups, here is the best swimwear on Sloane Street right now

13 July 2023

Holiday season has arrived and whether you’re sunning yourself poolside in Provence or soaking up rays on the beaches of Tulum, your swimwear should be living up to the occasion. Luckily, Sloane Street has you covered (or not, if you like your bikinis micro), with pieces for every shape, style and scene.

Do you prefer your swimsuits bold and beautiful? The latest beachwear offering from Hermès is awash with vibrant oranges and pinks. You can choose from monochrome and playful prints, bikinis and one pieces, so there’s really something for everyone. Our pick is the Angelina swimsuit in Orange Ambre – style it with some colourful espadrilles and a simple white sarong to let this statement piece speak for itself.

Heidi Klein (on Pavilion Road) has long held a reputation for quality and fit. The brand’s one-pieces are known for their classic, sculpting silhouettes and have become holiday essentials among the fashion set. However, this summer it is the bikinis that have caught our eye. The Capri Pom Pom Triangle Bikini brings a Grecian blue and white print to the brand’s bespoke textured honeycomb fabric while the ageless triangle shape and signature Heidi Klein gold bamboo trims make it the ultimate everyday bikini.

We all know the importance of the perfect little black dress – but we’re here to make the case for the LBS: the little black swimsuit. Saint Laurent’s signature understated elegance and timelessness carry through into its Resort collection with simple black swimsuits that are beautifully cut and will stay in style season after season. We like this halterneck option for its sensual scooped back and adjustable side ties to customise the look. Long live the LBS.

The opposite of understated, Roberto Cavalli always makes a splash with its flair for the fabulous and flamboyant. This halterneck swimsuit, made for only the boldest of beachgoers, features a Renaissance-inspired print and a plunging neckline that is simply drenched in drama. Pair it with the biggest sunglasses you own and a whole lot of attitude to match.

And if you prefer more coverage, try Ermanno Scervino’s macramé numbers, Valentino’s incredibly elegant panther-print kaftan, or Dior’s beautiful toile de Jouy sarong. Check out the house’s Dioriviera collection too, which has all you need to look chic on the beach.

For men’s swim shorts, variety is key and Dolce & Gabbana’s latest collection has it all. Whether you’re in the mood to go full Hawaiian, sleek and simple or elevated exhibitionist, the Italian brand has options in various lengths, cuts and styles to keep you looking fresh. Burberry, too, has a range of trunks and briefs to choose from but we favour this zoomed-in take on its classic check – the Exaggerated Check Drawcord Swim Shorts in Archive Beige.

Not entirely sure what feels like you? Sloane Street’s favourite department store Harvey Nichols has several swimwear brands under a single roof, from Jean Paul Gaultier to Missoni and Max Mara. Sometimes you simply have to head down to the Street and browse to find your perfect (swimwear) match. While you’re there, book in for last-minute pre-holiday treatments in any the neighbourhood’s wealth of wellness services to ensure you’re beach-ready.
