The Conran Shop is the winner of this year’s Chelsea in Bloom competition, winning the coveted Best Floral Display Award, as decided by an expert panel of Royal Horticultural Society judges, fashion-editor-turned-ceramicist Deborah Brett and content creator Josie London.

In keeping with this year’s theme, Floral Feasts, the display at The Conran Shop was created in partnership with Zoë de Givenchy and inspired by La Douce France. The installation won judges over with its romantic interpretation of alfresco dining and the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world.

The nearby Birley Bakery won the Highly Commended award for its floral feast for the bees, which highlights the importance of bees through a beautiful display of bee-friendly flowers in three ‘honeycomb’ towers of English flowers.

And The Butcher’s Tap & Grill was presented with the Innovation award for chef Tom Kerridge’s ‘Pirates Feast’, a wooden ship filled with edible flowers that can be preserved and used across Kerridge’s other establishments.

You can have your say by voting for your favourite display to win the People’s Champion Award at chelseainbloom.co.uk, with the winner announced on Friday 24 May. Voting closes at midnight on Thursday 23 May.

On Sloane Street, there was more apian excitement, with Beaverbrook Town House adorning its steps with a pair of 6-foot bumble bees courtesy of acclaimed royal florist Rob Van Helden, and an adorable ‘swarm’ of bees hovers above the entrance to boutique hotel 11 Cadogan Gardens, greeting guests among a meadow-scape of plants and flowers that line the steps. Don’t miss the ‘Queen Bee’ throne for a pretty Instagram moment.

Intimately seductive hotel …At Sloane channelled its essence of luxurious sensuality into a cluster of giant voluptuous cherries crafted from rich red carnations by Wild at Heart.

Jeweller Kiki McDonough celebrated the launch of her new Carousel collection with an interactive installation that incorporates traditional fun fair treats, while The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, has imagined a whimsical world where desserts meet floral fantasies, with a huge ice cream sundae with three scoops of gelato fashioned with fluffily petaled carnations.

Be sure to sample a scoop of artisanal gelato from The Cadogan Cart, an offering of seven flavours conceived by distinguished chef Anshu Anghotra and the hotel.

Running until Sunday, 26 May, alongside the Chelsea Flower Show, Chelsea in Bloom is London’s largest free-to-attend festival of flowers, produced by Cadogan in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). During the much-loved annual event, the neighbourhood’s businesses compete to win one of the prestigious floral art awards.

This year’s competition saw almost 100 participants showcase impressive fresh floral displays, each reflecting their own unique interpretation of the ‘Floral Feasts’ theme. The judges based their decisions on originality, quality of finish and planting choice, overall effect, and interpretation of this year’s theme.

Please visit chelseainbloom.co.uk for the complete list of winners and details on all the events happening in Chelsea during this exciting week.

And be sure to visit the neighbourhood to soak up all that delicious petal power.
