Kensington + Chelsea Art Week 2022

An engaging and dynamic celebration of Chelsea’s remarkable cultural heritage

Get ready for 11 days of art events, workshops and cultural activities across the neighbourhood as over 150 venues take part in this year’s Kensington + Chelsea Art Week (KCAW), a celebration of the cultural heritage of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

While you’re shopping on Sloane Street, keep an eye out for sculptures by multi-disciplinary artist Roman Lokati, who has created six life-sized metal figures that are part of an artwork called The Chelsea Look

As part of an inspiring public art trail across the borough until the end of summer, Lokati’s sculptures are inspired by Chelsea icons that have emerged over the years, from Mary Quant’s King’s Road Bazaar to the Chelsea Pensioners, Vivienne Westwood and Oscar Wilde. There’s one outside The Cadogan, a Belmond Hotel, another outside Hermès, and more on Pavilion Road and Duke of York Square.

Meanwhile, on the King’s Road, the Chelsea Windows collaboration once again sees retail spaces become pop-up contemporary art galleries as artwork by some of London’s most exciting emerging artists is exhibited in the windows of participating stores and restaurants, giving them the chance to expand their audiences.

A series of self-guided walking tours throughout the neighbourhood, designed by experts and artists, is accessible via the Go Jauntly app. Beginning at Jane Austen’s Sloane Street house, set off to explore Literary Chelsea; discover stunning sacred spaces on the Chelsea Historic Churches tour; or walk in the footsteps of Whistler and Turner on the Chelsea Arts Walk.

A self-guided drawing tour of Chelsea has been created by London-based architecture illustrator Natasha Godfrey, who will talk you through a walk through Chelsea to take in the many beautiful buildings in the neighbourhood. Bring pen and paper so you can draw along.

Check out the many illuminating and engaging events at kcaw.co.uk.

Kensington + Chelsea Art Week 2022 runs from Thursday 23 June to Sunday 3 July, 2022.
