20 years after Jennifer Lopez released an entire album dedicated to Ben Affleck (This Is Me… Then), pop culture’s most iconic couple has finally tied the knot (notwithstanding multiple marriages to other people in between). And who can resist the photos of Bennifer at their wedding in Vegas, or of Mrs Affleck’s enviable Parisian honeymoon wardrobe, or of the stunning Ralph Lauren couture she wore for their second marriage celebration? They’re all proof of J.Lo’s enduring (and highly covetable) style, which, through the decades, has ranged from sleek and seductive (J.Lo was a champion of the ’90s’ sheer slip dress) to dramatic and era-defining (that green Versace dress from 2000’s Grammy Awards is credited as the inspiration for Google Images), and always utterly confident. 

Indeed, there is no better moment to delve into Jenny from The Block’s fashion archives, particularly because some of the multi-hyphenate’s favourite brands have flagships on Sloane Street – think Brunello Cucinelli, Dior, Roberto Cavalli and Versace. So, we asked stylist and noughties fashion authority Sophie Casha to round up J.Lo’s best looks from over the years, and show us how to wear them now.

An embellished, close-to-skin midi slip is a timeless classic. We suggest updating the ’90s colour palette with something a little more vibrant, like the fiery hue of Ermanno Scervino’s number. Coordinating your accessories, like J.Lo has, makes for a touch of drama.

Donning a white suit is a bold move in itself, never mind one that’s made from slightly lustrous fabric. But here is J.Lo with a lesson on how to do it perfectly. For a 2022 take on the outfit, invest in Galvan at Harvey Nichols’ minimalist blazer and flares, which can be worn together or separately for future events. Then, add Saint Laurent’s slim waistcoat and Bottega Veneta’s chunky platforms for a fresh and modern feel.

Few things go together as well as J.Lo and animal print, so we couldn’t leave this look – from the World Music Awards in 2010 – off the list. To reimagine the singer’s outfit, try Saint Laurent’s leopard-print dress and lean into the French brand’s cool-girl aesthetic with a wrist stack featuring Cartier’s iconic Santos watch and a chunky chain bracelet from Dolce & Gabbana. Also from the Italian house, some gold sandals and a twinkling clutch that will tie the look together nicely. Then, finish the outfit (and extend the wild inspiration) with Gucci’s lion ring.
