Embrace the spirit of Wimbledon with the ‘Ace’ at Sir Frank’s Bar

The limited-edition cocktail from Beaverbrook Town House is inspired by court-side afternoons of strawberries and cream

5 July 2022

To celebrate Wimbledon 2022, the team at the glamorous Sir Frank’s Bar at Beaverbrook Town House has created a limited-edition cocktail inspired by one of the great traditions of the annual tennis tournament: strawberries and cream.

The refreshing cocktail at Sir Frank’s Bar, fittingly named ‘Ace’, is made with Sipsmith Gin combined with strawberry liquor, vanilla syrup and elderflower, topped with prosecco and soda and garnished with pickled strawberry and mint.

The classic strawberries-and-cream combination is said to have been served at the first-ever edition of Wimbledon in 1877, when only 200 fans were in attendance. These days, around 191,000 portions of strawberries and cream are said to be served during the annual championships.

And if you’re watching the tournament at home, head to Pavilion Road to pick up the freshest strawberries in town from Natoora and some clotted cream at the Chelsea General Store.

‘Ace’ by Sir Frank’s Bar costs £18 and is available until 10 July, 2022.
