Bottega Veneta’s new Sloane Street store is the first of the brand’s boutiques to embody the creative vision of creative director Matthieu Blazy, who was appointed to the role in 2021. 

The 490sqm space was designed and developed using materials, techniques, furniture and furnishings associated with the Italian Veneto region, where the brand was founded. 

The undeniable star of the space is the the terrazzo floor, a detail deeply rooted in the Veneto region, where many of Venice’s buildings are faced with slabs of the distinctive stonework. 

The boutique’s unique terrazzo floor makes use of four different types of stone: Bardiglio, Carrara, Verde Alpi, and Grigio Carnico. The cool colour palette of grey and muted greens of these stones is reminiscent of the ever-changing colour of Venice’s Lagoon and is a nod to the waves of the Adriatic Sea.

A further ode to the region’s marble-rich quarries is the brass-framed louvred stone panels in the front windows, a motif that is repeated at the back of the space and in louvred mirrors throughout the boutique. 

Throughout the minimal interior, curved Bassano wood walls create a sense of drama and warmth, elegantly dividing the space and displaying the house’s signature intrecciato woven leather accessories, which is echoed in the smart armchairs crafted from deep green leather in an oversized version of the technique. 

Entering the ground floor via doors equipped with Murano glass handles designed by Venice-based Japanese sculptor and designer Ritsue Mishima, shoppers will be greeted by the latest season’s highly covetable leather accessories, including the cult, made-to-order Tosca bag. Pieces from the men’s collection are also housed here alongside giant gold plant pots containing dramatic monstera plants.  

The women’s ready-to-wear collection is found downstairs, as well as a selection of ultra-luxurious exotic skin accessories, shoes, jewellery and a lavish dressing room available to the house’s most important customers.
