The best experiences to share with your mum this Mother’s Day

From the opulence of The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, to a fascinating lecture series, these are Sloane Street’s top picks for spending some quality time together

7 March 2024

The Cadogan Lounge by Benoît Blin at The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel

This meticulously designed afternoon tea menu has been created by chef pâtissier Benoît Blin, who Bake Off fans will recognise as one of the judges for Bake Off: The Professionals. Monsieur Blin’s fine dining afternoon tea menu is a distinctively seasonal affair, with a gallic twist on the quintessentially British tradition.

With a flower on arrival putting you in her good books from the off, expect treats like truffle-topped sandwiches; deliciously decadent Cornish crab brioches; religieuse pastries filled with light and airy coffee bean and cardamom cream; and, of course, the requisite freshly baked scones with clotted cream and handmade jam. Served sans the traditional stand, the afternoon tea arrives as independent courses, with the final course of cakes served from a stylish trolley for a touch of tableside theatre.

Price: from £75 pp

When: served daily from 12pm to 6pm

Lizz Wright at Cadogan Hall

On Friday, March 15, you will have a rare opportunity to witness Lizz Wright, a living soul legend, perform live in Chelsea. With an inimitable voice that the New York Times describes as ‘a smooth, dark alto possessed of qualities you might associate with barrel-aged bourbon or butter-soft leather’, the celebrated vocalist draws inspiration from her Southern upbringing in Georgia, where she was the musical director of a small church in which her father was the pastor.

Friday 15 March 2024, 7:30 pm. Tickets from £32.50.
