Spring/summer 2025 is shaping up to be a season of contrasts: pristine polish meets playful chaos, heritage styles get a high-fashion remix, and the colour palette is straight out of an ice cream parlour. The runways have spoken, and the trends are landing in boutiques up and down Sloane Street, which, thanks to its £46-million transformation, is looking better than ever. From ladylike elegance at Chanel to nouveau preppy at Prada, these are the trends you need to know about this season.

Society Queens

Blame Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans, but SS25 is all about high-society polish. Think demure tailoring, impeccable silk blouses, and razor-sharp skirts. It’s Upper East Side meets Country & Townhouse, a revival of ’60s socialite chic with an undercurrent of power dressing. The society grande dame vibe was echoed at Armani, who showed his first-ever mainline show outside of Milan with a line-up of uptown princesses, some of which were trailed by their own porters or adorably accessorised with designer pups. This is quiet luxury with something to say. Think polished handbags, sleek pumps, and just a hint of pearls.

Haute Vintage

Alessandro Michele’s arrival at Valentino is at the heart of this trend, and his love of embellishment, lace, and vintage romanticism underpins the aesthetic. The delicate embellishment at Temperley and Fendi, the fresh take on 70s silhouettes at Zimmermann and on Chemena Kamali’s Chloé runway,  clever nods to granny chic at Prada, and Erdem’s love of historical references all feed into this trend. SS25’s vintage influence is less archival replica, more a deeply nostalgic, slightly eccentric elegance—think Ariana Grande’s elbow-length gloves and 60’s silhouette in her unworn vintage 1966 Givenchy Haute Couture dress at the Golden Globes.

Chloé and Erdem are available at Harvey Nichols.

Boho is Back

Seventies glamour meets early-noughties nostalgia—boho is back, and it’s bringing suede, lace-up details, and wide-brim hats with it. Think Zimmermann’s flowing maxi dresses, Chloé’s effortlessly romantic blouses, and Ralph Lauren’s fringe-trimmed suede jackets. The ultimate muse? Sienna Miller circa 2004, all tousled hair and layered jewellery. Whether you opt for head-to-toe boho or just a nod to the trend with Temperley London’s delicate embroidery, SS25’s take is less festival, more refined free spirit.

Messy Preppy

Preppy but off-kilter. This is about looking like you got dressed for school in a hurry (maybe in the dark, too)—and that’s exactly the point. Think: Prada’s askew collars and half-tucked hems. Versace had a Jenny/Oliver Love Story mash-up, while there was a high-end gap year aesthetic at Zimmermann. Valentino presented disorderly debutantes, while Ralph Lauren (the maestro of American prep), took the aesthetic in a more traditional direction. The result is the same: classic codes disrupted. (P.S. Pop a slim-fitting polo shirt on your shopping list. You’ll wear it with high-waist denim and pencil skirts all season.)

Gelato Dressing

Ice cream hues are the biggest colour trend of the season. From lemon-drop yellow and saccharine pink to pistachio and lilac, delicious pastel tones are having a moment, and Chanel’s take on the trend is particularly delicious, serving up candy-coloured confections that beg to be mixed and matched. Whether head-to-toe or a pastel pop via a handbag (Fendi served up some delightful arm candy in spun-sugar shades), this is SS25’s sweetest style shift.
