We’re torn. On one hand, how can we possibly resist the utterly on-trend and playful batch of colourful and cuddly fur coats that stalked the runways at Gucci, Missoni et al? But on the other, this season has such an irresistible selection of the kind of practical and stylish coats that we’d wear forever: all flattering proportions, luxe wool and cashmere, and beautiful craftsmanship.
At Chloé, there’s blanket dressing in soft blush pink (main picture, above) – perfect over pretty pastel dresses or jeans and turtleneck jumpers, while Giorgio Armani used grey flannel to create a minimalist, boxy coat that’s made for smartening up 9-5 looks (below, left), and Rag & Bone’s clean-cut charcoal number is so sharply cut it should come with a warning (below, right).

The three-quarter length tweed belted coat at Louis Vuitton (below, left) is pretty much the kind of thing you’ll bequeath to your daughter, while the oversized parka from Zadig & Voltaire (below, right) will be a weekend staple in and out of the city.

Hey, why do we have to choose? We’ll take one of each.
