The fashion world’s rumour mill is once again turning following news that the senior team at Gucci is departing.
Kering, the company that owns Gucci, revealed on Friday that Patrizio di Marco, the brand’s chief executive, and Frida Giannini, its creative director, were leaving the Italian label. Giannini will step down from her role at the end of February after showing her fall-winter 2015 collection on February 25th in Milan, and di Marco is to exit on January 1st after six years at the management helm.
As to who may be in the running to replace Giannini, whose incredible furry coats are in store now, names being thrown around include Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci, and Joseph Altuzarra, whose New York-based fashion house received investment from Kering last year.
Whoever takes up the reins in the New Year, we’re sure it will make an exciting new chapter for Gucci and, in the meantime, it’s a great excuse to snap up some of Giannini’s creations on Sloane Street before she makes her departure.
