The Sloane Street Deli has reopened under new management and is once again serving its innovative offering of dishes rooted in British regionality, with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences.

As a neighbourhood hub, the Deli provides a welcoming atmosphere where locals and visitors alike can meet friends, family and colleagues to catch up over coffee or the menu’s comforting dishes, which are made using the freshest locally sourced ingredients.

Led by former Le Manoir chef Dave Watts, the culinary team works with a selection of vegetarian bases, with an extensive choice of additional proteins, dips and sides.

At the deli counter, customers can choose from a range of salads, sandwiches and cakes, with the restaurant area also serving a selection of dips and nibbles and signature plates as part of its all-day menu. The barista bar serves a selection of deli sandwiches and cakes alongside expertly made coffees and desserts to take away or enjoy at one of the window seats overlooking the comings and goings of Sloane Street.

Highlights on the breakfast menu include French toast, date syrup and orange-scented labneh, and shakshuka, tahini and laffa bread, and the fontal cheddar toasty is a standout on the lunch menu. The dips are set to become a local must-try, both to eat in or to take away.

The interior of the deli has been reimagined by London/NYC interior designer Rawan Muqaddas Behbehani, with the decor taking inspiration from the sage and cream cover of the 1920s book by Mario Dei Gaslini, Piccolo Amore Beduino, featuring an illustration of a female form draped in fabric.

The image informed the colour palette and mood of the interior through detail, texture and layering. The handmade Japanese sage coloured tiles and juxtaposition of brick-coloured fabric, burnt orange seats and rattan harmoniously come together as a take on a modern deli with a Middle Eastern twist.

As a new local hub for drinking, dining and meeting, the deli’s much-anticipated reopening has certainly been worth the wait.
