Things are about to get wild on the streets of Chelsea. Co-inciding with the Chelsea Flower Show, Chelsea in Bloom will return for an 11th year and see the neighbourhood’s retailers decorate their store fronts with all manner of flora in line with this year’s theme: Carnival.
In the year of the Rio Olympics, the Rio De Janeiro Carnival, the world’s biggest street party, will be the inspiration for the annual celebration of floral art, seeing the streets of Chelsea transformed from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th May.
Running alongside the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, retailers including Agent Provocateur, Annoushka, Heidi Klein, Browns, Bottega Veneta, Smythson and Rag & Bone have all signed up to take part in the competition, which will be judged by a panel of professionals, with winners announced on Wednesday 25th May.
You will be able to have your say too, by voting for the People’s Champion Award, which will be chosen by members of the public voting via www.chelseainbloom.co.uk. Voting will go live on Tuesday 24th May and close at midnight on Thursday 26th. The winner will be announced on Friday 27th May.
There is a host of exciting things happening around the event as well, including a dedicated Flower Afternoon Tea, a new celebration of flowers and herbs from served in the elegant surroundings of 11 Cadogan Gardens by chef Alexis Gauthier; luxurious Signature Services at Liz Earle’s Duke of York Square flagship store, including complimentary hand and arm massages, skincare consultations and mini pampering Liz Earle facials for just £20; Barts’ award-winning bar manager, Vincenzo Sibilia, has created an exclusive cocktail in honour of the Flower Show called The Red Flower, made with an herbaceous blend of Bombay Sapphire infused with hibiscus flowers, rose water, carpano, sugar and lemon juice; and Jo Malone London will be celebrating the launch of its new Nashi Blossom fragrance with spring treats like white chocolate and pear sprinkle discs, British Sparkling Wine and a pampering hand and arm massages.
