Get thee to Sloane Street as soon as you can to snap up a pair of statement shoes designed by Edgardo Osorio for Salvatore Ferragamo.
If you don’t know who Mr Osorio is, he’s the creative mind behind Aquazzura, the luxury shoe brand that has Hollywood and style insiders enthralled. You know those pointy, flat shoes that lace up over the foot and up the ankle that everyone was wearing this summer? They’re Aquazzura’s ‘Christy’ style.
For this collection, Osorio looked to the Ferragamo archive and playfully channelled the unique spirit of the brand, reinterpreting the founder’s iconic designs from the Thirties, Forties and Fifties for the modern woman. He’s even done a new spin on his ‘Christy’ style, featuring a range of spots.
The collection of eleven styles developed across five lines was inspired by Ferragamo classics like the rainbow wedge, the polka dot shoe, and the wing shoe – some of which were designed for Salvatore’s original Hollywood clients including Mae West, Joan Crawford, and Marilyn Monroe.
Osorio, who was born in Colombia and raised between Miami and London, said this collaboration marked a return to Ferragamo for Orsorio, whose first job in luxury footwear was at Ferragamo 10 years ago, when he was 19 years old.
Prices range from £470 to £1,090 and the collection is available in store now at 207 Sloane St, SW1X 9QX.
