Your Post-Lockdown Workout Guide

After almost six months of online workouts (or no workouts whatsoever), Chelsea’s gyms and boutique fitness studios are open again, and ready for you to work off lockdown indulgences, whether your vice was sourdough, banana bread, or just Netflix marathons.

With upgraded cleaning measures in place to ensure the safety of all and social distancing restrictions on class sizes, you can be confident in your return to group exercise. There are hand-sanitising stations throughout, and changerooms will have limited (or no) access, so it’s best to arrive early to your class in your gym kit.

Below are our favourite places to get a sweat on, and some of the additional safety measure they are employing to mitigate the spread of Covid-19, while ensuring you get the most out of your class. And, if you’d still prefer to work out in the comfort of your own home, on-demand and live online classes are continuing.

KXU

Staff will be taking temperature checks on arrival to ensure all guests are well and asking everyone to sanitise their hands on arrival. There are Perspex screens between treadmills and in front of bikes. In studios, workout spaces are clearly designated on the floor and at the barre and listen for instructions from the instructor for entering and exiting the studio.

The staff have been provided with our Covid-19 risk assessments and with PPE wherever required. Their temperatures are checked every day and they are encouraged to change into their uniform at work to avoid outside contamination.

Should you feel in need of some pampering, the KXU Medispa is open for all treatments except facials.

You are encouraged to arrive in your workout wear, and to shower and change after class at home. The lockers and changing rooms will be in limited use, and the showers will not be in use. There will also be no towel service nor water dispensers, so bring your own bottle of water and towel.

There is hand sanitiser and sanitising wipes provided throughout the studio, with limited class capacities and individual workout zones clearly marked out. Prop use will be limited and cleaned after each use.

In line with government guidelines, Heartcore’s CoreFormers have been adjusted and spaced accordingly with a minimum of 1 metre between the centre of each carriage. For the time being, towels and shower facilities are not available, and you will have to bring your own bottle of water.

Additionally, you are asked to arrive in your workout gear, with minimal belongings to keep common areas safe and clear.
