What’s not to love about a bag that can double as a day bag and a clutch? Delpozo’s new Moon bag (£1,150), launching in store next month is the kind of hard-working accessory that makes you wonder how your wardrobe functioned without it.
Part of creative director Josep Font autumn/winter 2017 collection for the prêt-à-couture Spanish brand, the Moon bag, like the whole to-die-for collection, was inspired by the work of Hungarian painter József Rippl-Rónai, a member of Les Nabis, a group of Post-Impressionist avant-garde artists in 1890s France, and Swiss sculptor Max Bill, Allianz movement leader for concrete art.
The Nabis group of artists focused on the translation of reality rather than the tangible, and approach inspired Font’s refined colour palette, while Max Bill’s abstract sculptues informed his adoption of circular shapes as his collection’s main motif. They appeared in sleeves and buckles and in the tulip silhouette and, yes, also in the Moon bag, which continued the spherical theme with a metallic handle inspired by Bill’s banded sculptures.
We love the sunshine yellow of this bag, perfect for late summer holidays, but just as wearable as a highlight accessory as the seasons change – it will look sensational next to autumn’s key tones of mulberry, indigo, and blush. The Moon bag also comes in a classic black pebbled leather and a gorgeously sophisticated tan.
