MEGHAN-FAVOURITE MACKAGE OPENS ON SLOANE STREET

Just in time for winter coat-buying season, Canadian brand Mackage has opened its first British store on Sloane Street.

Mackage was founded in 1999 by Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy and has long been a favourite of fashion insiders who prize the label’s timeless, high-quality outerwear. It came to the attention of international style-watchers when Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, wore the brand’s Elodie coat in December 2017 for her first joint official public appearance with Prince Harry following the announcement of their engagement.

She has also been seen in the Baya leather biker jacket at the Invictus Games in Canada in 2017 and the classically styled Mai coat in sand double-faced wool on a trip to Belfast with Prince Harry in March 2018, two months before they wedding in Windsor. As expected, the Mai coat promptly sold out but the Mackage staple has since been restocked and reissued in new colours.

Dahan and Elfassy create coats and jackets that combine different textures and materials to produce architecturally inspired designs. Best-sellers also include cosy down parkas with removable hoods and stylish furry trims.
