This week marks the opening of a gorgeous new flagship at the stunning new 131 Sloane Street development – Delpozo.
If you are new to Delpozo, you’re going to love it. It’s pure glamour with a focus on couture details and dramatic silhouettes. The brand was founded in Madrid in 1974 under designer Jesus del Pozo, who was celebrated in Spain for his brand’s creativity and commitment to craftsmanship. Following Del Pozo’s passing in 2011, Barcelona-born designer Josep Font took over as creative director and, two years later, took the pret-a-couture label to New York Fashion Week, where it was met with critical acclaim.
Font’s background as an architect makes him uniquely capable of constructing complex confections that appear weightless and effortless, often employing big silhouettes and delicate hand-applied embellishments.
The 360 square metre Delpozo store – the first flagship for the brand outside of Spain – is set across two floors and includes a dedicated bridal suite, full of daydream dresses for brides-to-be. Echoing the design cues of the Delpozo flagship in Madrid, the collection is hung on brass rails and appears within glass vitrines like museum pieces. Black Japanese marble and natural oak provide a warm background for brass fixtures, while seating areas are finished with lamps, tables and sumptuous vintage upholstery pieces selected by Font himself.
Joining Delpozo at the new development is Valentino, which has opened next door.
The stores are open now at 131 Sloane Street, SW1.
