Year Of The Pig: Gifts For The Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year begins on February 5th, ushering in the Year of the Pig and a tempting selection of porcine-inspired goodies from Sloane Street’s designer labels.

Gucci has released a Year of the Pig collection, featuring lots of adorable little pigs, including Disney’s upbeat trio, while Monica Vinader and Louis Vuitton have both created some very fetching jewelled options.

At Tod’s the Chinese Year of the Pig, a symbol of personality and fortune, is celebrated with a limited-edition women’s capsule collection in red, pink, silver and white featuring a charming flying pig motif.

Red, the colour associated with good fortune and joy in Chinese culture, is prominent in New Year celebrations and has been adopted by Anya Hindmarch in accessories for both men and women.

And on Saturday February 9th, you can celebrate the Chinese New Year at Duke of York Square, which will be hosting a special Chinese food market with a delicious array of Chinese delicacies and traditional entertainment, including a traditional Lion Dance at lunchtime and a special appearance from Peppa Pig.

The Market will be open from 10am-4pm with a selection of delicacies from exclusive market stalls including, baozi and chow mein from Bite Mi, spring rolls from Rao Deli and dumplings from The Ugly Dumplings.

Kinds can get involved in arts and crafts sessions, where they can make their very own lucky Chinese red envelope, greeting banner and headdresses. Plus, there’ll also be special storytelling sessions and a photo opportunity with Peppa Pig.
