The winners of the 2017 Chelsea in Bloom competition were announced last night at the Cadogan Estate headquarters on Duke of York Square, with gentlemen’s outfitter Hackett awarded the top prize for its lush tropical planting, bright blooms and life-sized 3D animals, each handmade from hundreds of flowers.
With a record number of entrants, the bar was set high as brands embraced the Floral Safari theme to create eye-catching fresh floral installations that were judged by an expert panel. They awarded Rag & Bone, Kiki McDonough and Smythson with Highly Commended prizes, while 11 Cadogan Gardens, Jumeirah Carlton Towers, Kiehls and The White Company all scooped Gold awards for their stunning displays.
Sloane Square optician Tom Davies was awarded the Innovation award for his incredible display of flowers, created with Hayford & Rhodes florists, that was inspired by sunsets on the savannah.
Eighteen brands including Club Monaco, Red Valentino, Monica Vinader and greengrocer Natoora on Pavilion Road were all awarded Silver prizes, while Boutique 1, Heidi Klein, Jimmy Choo and salon Nyumba were among the 14 brands given Bronze awards.
