WATCH: DIOR’S #TheWomenBehindTheLens FILMS

To mark her debut as the first female artistic director at Christian Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri invited nine female photographers to offer their vision of her creations for the spring/summer 2017 collection, which is available at the Dior store on Sloane Street now.

The resulting images were unveiled by Dior on its dedicated website alongside these videos in which the photographers discuss their work and approach to the brand’s #TheWomenBehindTheLens project.

Watch here as Janette Beckman talks about her experience of documenting the collection, from the making of the clothes through to their debut on the runway; as Maripol elucidates on using her favourite Polaroid camera to capture the backstage action at the show; as Brigitte Niedermair, known for her portraits and lifelike aesthetics, talks through her series of diptychs that focus on the details, colors, curves and materials of the highlights of the collection; and as Brigitte Lacombe recalls working with twins Ruth and May Bell in a series of images that highlight the femininity of the collection.

A warning: All but Janette’s film are in French but don’t let that put you off. They are rich in gorgeous imagery and offer a fresh take on the talent of the women now at the helm of one of the world’s biggest fashion brands.
